Creating Commuter Trip Plans
The entry page

The entry page looks like this. For details on what to enter, see below.

Graphic of entry page, see explanation below for fields

A Getting There

  • Enter the location you are going to in the field labeled What is your destination?
Follow the examples shown, or click on the "More Tips" link. If you are new to the Trip Planner or to the transit system you might want to start out planning regular trips, which give more details.
  • Enter the time you usually want to arrive in the time fields. Be sure to check AM or PM.
The time you enter is considered your preferred time. You'll get trips that arrive at or just before this time, before this time, and after this time. Service is not available earlier or later in all cases. See Entering Dates and Times for more information on how the Trip Planner treats times.

B Getting Back

  • Enter your second location in the field labeled What is your return destination?
  • Enter the time you usually want to leave in the time fields. Be sure to check AM or PM.
The time you enter is considered your preferred time. You'll get trips that depart at or just after this time, before this time, and after this time. Service is not available earlier or later in all cases.

C Travel Options

Use this section to further customize your Commuter Trip Plans.

  • Travel on or after: If you are planning ahead, for instance for travel after a Service Change, set the date accordingly. Usually you can accept the date that is entered by default.
  • Type of Service: Pick one. You might have to create more than one set of Commuter Trip Plans to cover all the days you will be travelling.
  • What is the farthest you want to walk? Select 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or one mile. Shorter distances may reduce your options for service.
  • Do you require an accessible trip? Check the box to get trip plans that use accessible buses and stops. See Accessibility Options for more information about results when this box is checked.

D Clear button

Use this button to erase all entries. Note: If you used the Revise Original Entries link on a subsequent page this button does not work.

E Create Trips button

Click this button to submit your Commuter Trip Plan request.

Clarify Location

If the system doesn't find an exact match for one of your locations, the Clarify Location page is displayed. Look in the list of options. If you find one that matches, select it. Then scroll down and click the Resubmit button. If your location is not listed, follow the instructions on the page to either change what you entered or find out how to enter a location. You can also check the Tips on how to use this page.
